Interview with Mr. Feisal Mohammed, CEO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quality Lab Works was established in 2007 and has since grown to be the biggest independent optical lab in Trinidad. Located at e TecK\u2019s Macoya Business Park, this establishment is really an impressive one. The company manufactures lenses for eye-wear such as Single Vision, bi-focals, progressives as well as the latest in digital lenses based on prescriptions received from local or regional optical companies who do not have a lab. Combining the skills and experience in the fields of Engineering and Computing, the business has grown in leaps and bounds, today, Quality Lab Works has eighteen members of staff. As Mr. Mohammed, CEO of Quality Lab Works states, \u201cOur growth is due to three principles namely : quality product, consistent delivery and competitive pricing, we take each of these principles seriously and we have built our reputation on it. Our aim is to remove the worry from our customers by delivering lenses that meet or exceed ANSI specifications.\u201d<\/p>\n

Being independent, the company doesn\u2019t own a retail store which allows the company to treat all their customers equally, as well as allowing Quality Lab Works to place more focus on their customer needs. \u201cWe view our customers as partners since our success depends on the success of our customers. It is about helping our customers meet their business needs and ultimately the patients\u2019 needs,\u201d explained Mr. Mohammed. He continued, \u201cThe staff at Quality Lab Works has a wealth of experience in the optical industry with four senior staff having over 20 years each. This means that every job gets looked at by very experienced eyes before it leaves the lab.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company has invested in an in-house AR coating facility that produces a QClear product, which means that AR can be done in less time. High prescriptions and large prisms are handled in a prompt manner and most times within normal turnaround times. The LMS (Laboratory Management System) has the facility to accept jobs remotely. So instead of using fax or email, the jobs can be entered directly into the LMS and the status of the jobs can be monitored in the lab.<\/p>\n
