e TecK launched its first in a series of stakeholders meetings designed to share with key stakeholders in the Tourism and Hospitality sector of Tobago, Government’s proposed strategy for engagement of an investor/operator for the VHL Tobago Hotel and Spa.
The Secretary of Tourism, the Honourable Oswald Williams of the Tobago House of Assembly, along with over 35 representatives from Tobago’s Tourism and Hospitality industry were in attendance.
Mr. Richard Saunders, President of e TecK, the key presenter at the event, provided an overview of the project plan to secure an investor/operator for the hotel. Key deliverables, deadlines and milestone dates were identified. The President stressed the urgency of the project and the Government’s commitment to Tobago and all stakeholders involved. He stressed that the process will be transparent and collaborative.
There was on overwhelming response to continued stakeholders agreement to boost the tourism sector. A high sense of optimism was felt as attendees were pleased at the plans outlined and the work that is being undertaken to complete this project before the end of this year. In the words of President Saunders, “all forces are aligned to make securing an investor/ operator for the hotel a reality”.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for the engagement of an investor/operator for VHL Tobago Hotel and Spa will be issued on Friday 11, February 2011.

The closing date for receipt of submissions is 14 March, 2011 at 2:00pm.
All registered proponents will be invited to attend a Pre-Submission Briefing on Tuesday 22 February, 2011.
